Guys, my company is looking for a UI/UX designer.
Back Story:
2 years ago, I was the only UI/UX designer available, my boss is an all-round dev with UI/UX senses too (he can notice 1px off easily). Then slowly, my boss gave me my precious Kelsey & Adri. God bless them. Having them, I finally have the time to undergo my long-postponed surgery. Few months after, new projects came in, work loads storm in. Previously, my boss hired a Pro/Senior UI/UX guy. Actually he joined our company while waiting for an offer from
Grab Touch n Go. So, once he got the offer, he ciao - after 2 days of working, leaving my boss and us sad and miserable. Kelsey and me had to brave thru those days, working during weekends and having overtime session on the weekdays.
Then last month ah, my boss hired another guy, this time a remote UI/UX designer with 14 years of experience. I have high expectations, I expected him to be very pro and perhaps, someone that I can make an idol. Hahah. During our first tele-conference, he also rephrased to us that he got ’14 years of experience’. I only got 4 and I feel that I am lacking in many aspects, so I can’t wait to learn new skills from him. One day, I realised that he is doing the UI in a developer-incompatible way, his execution is more to please the eyes but not implementably reachable. Maybe he is more into graphic designs rather than the real UI/UX methodology. You see, you can’t just simply design stuffs, you needa think on how to make it happen as well. I don’t know what happens afterward. He quits.
Basically, I like my job. The thing that I give 10/10 about at this company is, these people that I am working with are, they are like my own fam-bam. I have 2 Chinese uncles here (non-biological tho). I have a Russian best friend that someday I hope to punch him in the face with all my strength just to show him how much I love being his friend. I have supportive juniors that always have my fatty back. My boss is also very kind to me. I am very fucking happy every time my final design is fully implemented by the devs and finally published on the web as fully functional portal on the web, an app on the Google Play Store or even the Apple App Store. But having this suay (衰) of new people leaving my UI/UX department really made me sad. Mati la my motivation macam ni. Last 2 weeks, I’ve been thru a lot of stress. And I also cried a bit to release my inner tension. I am still lucky I got Kelsey on my back for this current project. I also managed to teach another dev guy, Hariz-kun to use sketch as he got some basic UI design skills, later I’ll brainwash him on UX way of thinking (if I got time).. So, I need someone strong to onboard our ship. I need you! 나는 니가 필요해!
